רַצְחָן, רֹוצְחָןm. (preced.) murderer, assassin. Sot.IX, 9 (47a) משרבו הרוצחנין … חזרו לקרותו בן הרצ׳ (Y. ed. בן הרוצח, read: הרוצחן) when the assassins became numerous, the ceremony of breaking the neck of a heifer (v. עֶגְלָה) was abolished; when El. b. Dinai and T. ben P. arose, the section (Deut. 21:7) was read; then they called him (every such assassin) son of a murderer; expl.
